The Benefits of Positive Parenting

Despite decades of research that has demonstrated the effectiveness of using positive parenting strategies, many caregivers still find themselves resorting to yelling, nagging, arguing, coercion, and punishment strategies to manage challenging behaviors.  The goal of positive parenting strategies is to prevent challenging behaviors from ever occurring in the first place by modeling, rehearsing, and reinforcing desirable behaviors, setting clear rules and limits, having clear and reasonable expectations, and providing consistent consequences.   Through the use of these strategies you will decrease problem behaviors, teach appropriate behaviors, increase positive interactions, and improve your relationships!
